The premiere motorcycle event featuring 20,000 motorcycle riders, led by Jay Leno. Sunday morning, 13 November 2005 ~ beautifully balmy, Glendale gleaming with sunny riders & shining bikes ready to roll 40 miles up I-5 to Castaic Lake for music, Bud beer, Bar-B-Q & a new H-D bike top prize. The 20,000 LR22 participants raised a record $1,450,000 for charities: LA Times Reading by 9, Katrina Relief, MDA, City of Hope, & others. Harley-Davidson of Glendale owner Oliver Shokouh founded the annual Love Rides in 1984 to present a more positive image of motorcycling. The Ride is the worldÕs largest single day motorcycle event & has grossed nearly $19 million for charities.
LR22 started with a bike stunt show on Saturday, featuring the McLaglen Motor Corp, Monte Perlin & the Harley-Davidson Racing Team. On Sunday, Sticky Fingers gave the Glendale concert, Golden Stars sky dived & Jack Mack & the Heart Attack opened for B.B. King at the Lake. Jay Leno again served as Grand Marshal, regaling everyone with his marvelous wit, aided by Honorary Grand Marshals Peter Fonda & Robert Patrick, Honorary Chairman Willie G. Davidson, Lorenzo Lamas, the Orange County Choppers, Chairman Oliver & other super celebs.
